Marie, the great new bourdon of Notre Dame, one of nine newly founded bells to join, Emmanuel, the other bourdon and sole survivor of the pre-1789 ring. |
It's very moving as, one by one, each new bell joins the chorus, starting with Jean-Marie, the smallest, and continuing until the last and oldest bell, the great bourdon, Emmanuel, which is the only bell to survive the French Revolution, joins in. They make a tremendous and joyful noise for the Lord.
